Ida Pfeiffer (1797-1858):

„Like a painter feels pressed to paint a picture, like the poet feels pressed to speak out his thoughts, thus I feel pressed to see the world.“ She was a world traveler, adventurer and travel writer from Vienna. In a time when traveling was a taboo for women, she covered 240.000 kilometers by the sea and 32.000 kilometers on four continents. Back then she was a famous person and the idol of many women, today only few people know the fearless Ida Pfeiffer.

 

The biopic „Where Is Ida“ is the second part of a film series about forgotten Viennese women. The first part was „Where Is Lotte“, an experimental film in search of Lotte Hass. The series is a research trip into the soul of the Viennese woman.
